In Cuba the dance has been evolving along with the musical genres: son, danzón, pilon, chachachá, guaracha or casino. The dance groups have specialized and reached high level, worthy of admiration in the international arena. Some companies advocate a classical or contemporary style; others include in its repertoire the two variants.

Afro-Cuban, peasants, Spaniards dances are among those currently adorn artistic performances. In turn, the ballet is one of the great strengths of Cuban dance: the International Ballet Festival of Havana has given much to talk about.
